Overlooking the centre of the resort, the Crozat district will welcome three new Pierre &
Vacances residences and one new Maeva residence.

In 1960, Jean Vuarnet, Olympic gold medallist from Morzine planned to create a huge ski area on the Avoriaz site at 1800m, overlooking the Morzine valley. In 1963 Property developer, Gérard Brémond, , designed Europe’s first car-free ski resort with the help of three architects: Jacques Labro, Jean-Jacques Orzoni and Jean-Marc Roques. In 1967, the Avoriaz resort was born with architecture which is perfectly integrated with the surrounding landscape with pyramid-shaped lines, cascading rooftops and red cedar fronts. In 1968, Jacques Labro won the Equerre d’Argent architectural award for his work.
In 2000, Avoriaz was acknowledged as one of the architectural triumphs of the XXth century. Since its creation, Avoriaz has been recognized as an innovative resort, a benchmark in terms of sustainable development: a fully pedestrianised resort constructed using green energy efficient building techniques.

Avoriaz is situated in the heart of the vast Portes du Soleil (Doors of the Sun) ski area: 650 km of slopes, 288 pistes, 209 aerial lifts, 444 snow cannons, 3 snowcross tracks, 1 Canyon slope and the Stash (an eco-snowpark). Avoriaz also features the famous “Children’s Village” established by Olympic ski champion Annie Famose.
In Avoriaz, Pierre & Vacances Group manages nearly 1,200 apartments (about 6 000 beds) with 2 brands: Pierre & Vacances and Maeva (approximately 64 000 customers per year). Over the past few years, Pierre & Vacances group has renovated its apartments responding to current and emerging customer expectations and demand for more spacious apartments, modern interior design, and first class amenities.

In 2008, in partnership with Morzine council, Pierre & Vacances has developed plans for the
extension and upgrading of Avoriaz, with the aim to encourage
a new momentum for the resort
though:
