The Region
Los Alcazares is on the edge of the Mar Menor a large inland sea, separated from the Mediterranean sea by the well known La Manga strip. The coastal area is the Costa Calida, which forms part of the Murcia region. There is a local ferry in summer that goes direct from Los Alcazares beach to the La Manga Strip so that you can enjoy a day on the beach at La Manga.
Go karting is available on the airport road from Los Alcazares. Another local town that is worth a visit to is Santiago de la Ribera, which has a long promenade and beach that stretches 3 miles to Lo Pagan. Markets are in all the local towns on different days (local markets Saturday and Tuesday am) details are kept within the apartment.
There is a fantastic 3 day festival in Los Alcazares at Easter with a full procession, activities on the beach and a medieval market in the town centre. Within walking distance is a local indoor sports centre & swimming pool for use in the cooler months and an outdoor pool at Mammas restaurant.
